An exhibition has been held jointly by non-governmental
organizations from Shanghai, Hong Kong and Taiwan, in the Sun
Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Taipei on March 7, to commemorate the 90th
anniversary of the death of Dr. Sun Yat-sen which falls on March
12.
The event features Sun’s painting and calligraphy based on his
life stories, demonstrating his 40-year efforts to push democratic
revolution in China.

The memorial hall has also released rare photographs and one
exclusively made documentary on him.

The Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Guangzhou has also held
exhibitions to mark the commemoration starting from March 10.
Apart from Sun's life stories, the Guangzhou memorial hall
also included the history of the architecture itself.
A proposal for building the hall was first raised one month
after Sun's death in 1925. It received warm welcomes from the
government and Chinese nationals.
In Beijing, a ceremony is scheduled to happen on Thursday in
Zhongshan Park.
According to the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese
Kuomintang, Chinese leaders will attend the
ceremony.

China has set March 12 as the Arbor Day to commemorate Dr. Sun
Yat-sen's death since 1928.
Sun proposed to celebrate a tree-planting day on the
traditional Tomb-sweeping Day after the 1911 Revolution and was
well received among governmental institutions and schools in the
1910s.

Dr. Sun Yat-sen (1866-1925) is considered as a "great
revolutionary and statesman" in China for his leading role in the
1911 Revolution which overthrew the imperial Qing dynasty
(1644-1911) and put an end to more than 2,000 years of feudal rule
in China.
